I had created a new theme a week ago and now finally I’m satisfied with it. It is a 3 columns theme with some customizable options (thanks to the “Current Theme Options” in wordpress 2.0).

There is a problem when I have upgraded wordpress from version 1.5.2 to 2.0. The trackback does not work! Everytime I write a new post I need to manually send trackback to blogtal.com and petalingstreet.org.
Anyway, AhKnight has a quick workaround for the trackback bug in Wordpress 2.0. You need update the ‘to_ping’ field in ‘wp-post’ database table to a zero length empty string.

Just upgraded this blog to Wordpress 2.0 few minutes ago withouth any problem. I have also developed a 3 column theme for it. It is now running on this blog.The theme still in testing phase. If everything is done, I will make it public :)

Waited for a long long time and now finally Wordpress 2.0 is released. Then homepage of wordpress.org has changed to a new one.. hmm a better and cleaner design. Will upgrade my blog to Wordpress 2.0 when I get home tonight… I have made a new theme for Wordpress 2.0 :)
If you want to upgrade your Wordpress to the latest version, you can download it here and follow the upgrade instruction. Make sure you make a database backup of your old wordpress database.
Waiting for a whole day, Wordpress 2.0 is still not yet to release. There was an announcement where Wordpress will be officially released on 26 December 2005. I downloaded and installed the WordPress 2.0 Release Candidate on my local PC and feel that Wordpress 2.0 is really nice. Some great features have been reviewed here.
Ah… When it will be released? I can’t wait to install the final release on my live blog.. haha

Today my colleague asked me “hey, you have change your website to an image or your website has been hacked?”. I thought he must be entered the wrong URL. Then I visit my own site. OMG, it shows me the following image:
Ouch .. who did that.. my site is not that popular what..
I tried to contact my webhosting provider (www.hostexcellence.com) using live chat but nobody is answering. The website is really slow. I tried to logon into my account manager site, the site is very slow too.
Finally, I’m able to logon to the account manager. I tried to investigate the problems. There were 2 files created by the “hacker”/”cracker”. My index.php was replaced and a new image file ownz.jpg was created. The owner (linux’s user) of the files is httpd. httpd is a apache web server. I really don’t know how the hacker can put the files into my folder via httpd. Maybe there was a security loopholes in httpd.
After that, I replaced the hacked with the original index.php and reported to hostexcellence.com. Hopefully they will solve the security problem as soon as possible else I have to move my files to other server.

For a better performance purpose, all feed entries (up to 20 latest pings) are loaded from cache. Therefore there is no database query when the feed is loaded. Later, I might need to increase the size of cache to cater more pings for categories.
When I point my browser (Firefox) to www.yahoo.com. A rectangle box pop-up at the top of yahoo.com webpage.
It says that you can now search with Yahoo! right from your browser. Then I followed the instruction on the screen.
1. “Look for the search box in the upper right corner of your browser.”
I looked at my browser, there is a search box upper right corner of my browser. Ya.. Yahoo! is correct.
2. “Click on the small triangle in the search box.”
I searched for the small triangle but I can’t find it. I scanned a few more times. Oh, the small triangle (really small!) is on the Google’s logo. Then, I clicked on it. A drop down menu shows a list of available services.
3. “Choose Yahoo!. You’re done!”
Ya, I saw Yahoo! The previous version of Firefox doesn’t have Yahoo! in the list. Yahoo! know I’m using Firefox 1.5
Then I opened Internet Explorer and see if the same thing happens. No, it does not.
Yahoo! want to remind her users that there is a Yahoo! icon on Firefox and users can search with Yahoo! directly from Firefox. Instead of googling, remember that you can yahooing too… haha
After I had installed Firefox 1.5 on my notebook, I went to Mozilla Extensions to look for some plug-ins. I found this: Gmail Manager. Previously I was using Gtalk as my Gmail Notifier but sometimes I found it was a bit ‘heavy’ (drained some resources) to run on my notebook. Gmail Manager is more light-weight. Since I didn’t use Gtalk as the messenger so it is OK for me to use Gmail Manager.

I installed Adsense Notifier 0.7 for Firefox too but it seems to have conflict with Gmail Manager. Most of the time, the stats doesn’t show up. The programmer of Gmail Manager or Adsense Notifier might take note on this.

Adsense is ready for Christmas! Adsense called the new format ads “themed ad units”. They are the ad units that display themed colors and graphics during holidays and special events.
At the Adsense’s Ad Formats page, I only see 160×600 Wide Skyscraper layout is supported. Not sure about others.
What you need to do to activate the themed ad units is go to “My Account”->”Ad Type Preference [edit]” and enable it.
