Recently I feel that spam emails are getting smarter. Every morning when I open up my mailbox, I always see 2 to 3 spam mails in my inbox which suppose to be delivered into spam/junk/bulk folder.
Oh… long time didn’t blog about things happening on the internet. Today I found a nice tool which I want try out, I found it at LiewCF … but unfoturnately, the site keep showing this error message:
DEBUG INFORMATION:
Connect: Lost connection to MySQL server during query
Maybe the site has too much of visitors at the time I visit. I will try it out later.
The tool I mentioned is call “Page Strength”. It is a site that tells you the importance and visibility of a web page. It is like Google PageRank but I think this one seems more interesting. Page Strength use many factors to determine the “strength” of a site:
Links pointing to full URL
Links pointing to domain
Position at Google for first four workds of title tag on target URL
Age of Domain
Links from domains with .edu TLDs
Links from domains with .gov TLDs
Alexa Rank
Domain name visibility
Internal Link Percent
Number of search results for URL search at del.icio.us
Listing in DMOZ
Links found in Wikipedia
Google Pagerank of full URL and Domain
Anyway, two of the strengths from “Page Strenth” are based on Google’s statistic.
It is a web-based tool to preview a website in safari browser. For those who use windows or linux or other non-Mac OS, you can now see how your website looks like in Mac’s Safari browser.
I was banned without given a notice or warning. I know this is my fault to make so many pings in the short period and I don’t blame any one, this is their policy.
Was damm boring yesterday … the whole day did nothing … while surfing on some online game sites, suddently I recall one of my friend introduced a game called Travian (www.travian.com). Without thinking much, I registered the game and was playing with it.
Travian is a browser based MMOG (Massively Multiplayer Online Game). It is a web based strategy game. This type of is most suitable for those who want to play light game but don’t want to stay in front of computer for hours. To play this game, you must be patient because everything in this game need time.. like build a building, upgrade, attack…. and etc.
Wordpress 2.0.1 has been released about a month ago and now I only have the time and the ‘mood’ to install it. According to wordpress.org, they have fixed 100+ bugs in the previous release and below are some of the other changes:
You can now specify an upload directory, and whether to use date-based storage or not.
Caching has been fixed under certain PHP enviroments.
Permalinks have been fixed for weird enviroments as well.
XML-RPC uploading works.
Compatibility with older versions of PHP.
Several WYSIWYG fixes and cleanups.
Imports now use much less memory.
Now works with MySQL 5.0 in strict mode.
The upgrading process just went smooth. Before you upgrades yours, please make sure you have made a backup of the important files (e.g. wp-config.php, .htaccess). Please make sure you follow the instruction given in the wordpress upgrade page.
First, I made the most of Technorati tags. I tagged every key word in each of my posts. Initially I did this manually but them I discovered a WordPress plugin called SimpleTags that made the job a whole lot easier.
I found that by tagging my post effectively they were getting a lot more attention then their untagged counterparts, and as an added advantage I was getting focused, quality traffic to the site!
I leveraged my existing website. I’ve been running my business website for a few years and that was getting modest levels of traffic that was relevant to my blog - so why not try to drive some of that to my new blog! I placed a few FeedBurner headline animator blocks on some of my most popular pages and after a day or so I noticed a significant increase in traffic for 5 minutes worth of work on my part.
Finally, I made effective use of trackback links to popular sites. If I commented on a post on another site I would make sure that I set up the appropriate trackback for it. The results from this are varied depending on the site and post that you are linking to but since I liked to comment and interact with the wider blogosphere anyway, it was free traffic!
…
What I think…
I don’t like tags on my post. I feel that it will drecrease my site’s traffic. When visitors see the tags, they migh click on it. I did get traffic from Technorati but I don’t have any tag on my site. Instead I use the ping service. I make ping to Technorati ’s ping service (http://rpc.technorati.com/rpc/ping) whenever I write a post. You can make this automatically by putting the URL under Wordpress Admin’s Options - Writing - Update Services
FeedBurner - yes this might help a bit. Many blogger did this. You can subscribe to FeedBurner and put the feed animator as your signature on your other site and forums
Agreed with him. You can have backlinks and traffic for free. But you do not spam other people website. Most people hate that.
For me, the content is the king! When you have good quality of content, search engine and traffic will come to your site automatically and slowly. Keywords are one of the key element, try target more niche keywords instead of general keywords. Please do not over mention the keywords, search engine might think you are spamming with keywords. Put those targeting keyword in page title, keywords (meta tag), title of article and first paragraph of the article. Although some search engines (e.g. Google) do not recognize keywords in meta tags but the is no reason we don’t want to put it in for other search engines.
Google has done it again. Google has begun to offer Google branded favorites software in a single package called Google Pack.
Google Pack is free collection of essential software that is useful for your computer. The good thing is you can choose the software you want to install and remove those you don’t want before you download the Google Pack.
