Driving is tiring

July 18, 2006 22:32 by Sze Hau 5 Comments

Driving is very tiring…

… especially driving home after a long day work. I’m a software programmer cum tester, I think a lot… After a 8 hours of working hours (sometime more than that), I always want to go back as soon as possible…

… it is really tiring when I’m trapped in traffic jam on my way home, it is not once… but 2 to 3 times trapped in traffic jam (road infront Prince hotel, road in front TimeSquare, Jln Syed Putra, roundabout at Jln Gasing…).

… everyday, I tried to speed up (well my top speed at Jalan Syed Putra is 90km/h and I’m always behind my colleague’s whom go home together at the same time) whenever the traffic is a bit smooth because I want reach home as soon as possible… to have my dinner, relax and watch tv series …

… speeding make me take extra caution. this is tiring also. I’m driving a 7 years old car with manual gear transmission. I need to aware the car from the left, from the right, from infront and from behind. I need to consider the car distance and see if the car behind is too close to mine whenI want to press the break…

… when driving at night, the lights of cars from the other side of road and behind make my eyes tiring also… but I can’t avoid that. I need to keep my eyes open …

… when driving home, my brain almost stop functioning, I’m tired, I don’t want think anything else… So, I rarely talk in car. I already suspended my mind, relaxing my mind, listen to the songs play in radio… I skipped those gossip because I just don’t like that…

… since university time, 7 years ago, I used to be like that. No one talking in the car (since I’m the only one in the car), soft music and… traffic jam …

… whenever I can go back early from university and if there is no jam, me and one of my coursemate will race at Jln Gasing (not too fast but it’s quite fast in that small road). I’m driving my “mclaren” (my grey color Proton Wira), he was driving his “ferrari” (his read color old Mazda model), we played “missed call” on our phone while driving, we raced untill the junction to Old Klang Road …

… I think I spent too much on car. I spent about RM300/month for petrol and RM70/month for car park. Sometimes, I use NPE toll when want go back home fast (when I’m sick or got appointment), it cost me RM1.60…

… What about car maintenance and car wash? I used about RM300++ on my car’s maintenace in this month and RM200++ last month. I was thinking to buy a new car which is petrol saving type. After an advise from a friend with some calculation, it is not worth to buy a new car just for petrol saving…

… maybe I should try to take public transport for a week someday and see if it will be more economic than driving a car in city…

… sigh … maybe I should find more money for accommodate that problem :) …

I wished that you’d told me about this sooner, as much sometimes some things were common sense and that I can deduce from facts, but I really wanted to understand your concerns from you and not my hypothetical thoughts about what the problem is.

It’s really not something that you can keep quiet and expect people can understand everything, hmmm? :)

As for the public transport route, I took that every single day, and depending on your route, the budget is something that is pretty customizable. As in, cheap, fast or flexible. Pretty much if you use all RapidKL services, the monthly pass for both LRT and bus is RM120, so that’s a significant saving from driving a car. But some smart planning could save you even more ;).

Of course, the only major worry is to worry about “people jam” ^_^||. (i.e. trains/bus that packs people like sardine… especially the case for Putra LRT during and after office hours).

… hmm… anyway I don’t like people guessing what I’m thinking… if one want to know, he/she must ask… I cannot always broadcast my own thing to all of my friends…

… there is one cheapest transport., motorcycle.. like KH did… less jam, less petrol, save time, can use NPE highway without pay… see how first…

… erm … i know u cant always broadcast ur own thing to all of ur frens but u can find someone that u trust / ur best fren to share ur thought … not everyone around u can read ur mind o …

… motorcycle is cheaper transport than driving car … but more dangerous than car … guess ur parents also wun 100% agree in it …

    yo szehau…

wow about tiring driving huh! well, tat’s the only means of transport tat is the most convenient to us anyway. Despite the jam, u do not need to walk under sun nor rain; or endanger urself if u r using bike.

public transport in KL is so much better than elsewhere. If u r here, try to live without a car and depend on the public transport, i’m sure u won’t be able to stand more than 2 weeks!

anyway, juz take k okie! had been quite sometime since i read ur blog, but will tune in once i’m free!
