A few months didn’t update my blog, I’m too lazy. I just back from UK for a business trip. It was a nice trip indeed. I visited Manchester (the place I went to work for), Liverpool, London, Oxford and Cambridge. I have taken a lot of pictures and uploaded most of the photos to my flickr account. On 4th March 2008, I reached London Heathrow Airport. I was cold and tired after a 12 hours plus flight. The first place I suppose to go was Manchester, so I need to take trains from London to Manchester. I took the Heathrow Express to the London Paddington station (around 20 minutes), took underground tube from London Paddington station Euston underground station (around 15 minutes), walked from Euston underground station to Euston Rail station (around 5 minutes), took train from Euston Rail station to Machester Picaddily station (around 2 hours). And finally met my another colleague at Manchester. The transports in UK is pretty good and sure you won’t get lose in UK. You can easily find maps at each station.
5th March 2008 to 19th March 2008, I worked in Manchester together with my two colleagues, who one of came before me and another one came after me to UK. During weekends, we went out for sightseeing and photo taking. We also met other colleague from Liverpool. I also went to Liverpool for two days during this period but were return day trips. Thus, I didn’t have many chance to go for sightseeing in Liverpool. Liverpool is much more colder than Manchester especially when wind blows. Traveling in city center of Manchester is pretty easy, there are free shutter bus services that move around the city. The place I worked and stayed were pretty close, it is just 20 minutes of walking distance.
On 19th March 2008, I took trains from Manchester to the place I stayed in London (Near the Basewater underground station and next to Hydepark). It is a company apartment. At the time when I reach company apartment, it was too late I was too tired, so I didn’t go any place.
20th March 2008 to 21th March 2008, I visited most of the attractive places in London. I walked to the places and take tubes when I backed to the apartment. The first day was unlucky, it almost rained all the day. On second, it was raining ice when I was at Tower Bridge.
On 22th March 2008, I went to Oxford. It’s freezing cold and again, unfortunately it was raining ice.
On 23th March 2008, I went to Cambridge. This time, it was snowing. I didn’t go much places in the University because my foot are pain due to too cold and I was wearing the wrong shoe, the ice water from outside flowed into my shoe and my foot was freezing.
On 24th March 2008, I took the MAS flight at the early morning and reached Malaysia on 25th March 2008 in the morning.
Summarily, it was a nice trip and a good experience being exploring some part of the UK by myself. I hope I can visit to UK (e.g. Edinburgh) again in the future.
