What Are Programmers Doing In The Weekend?

January 14, 2013 23:32 by Sze Hau Leave a Comment

What are programmers actually doing most of the time during weekend?

1. Programming related research? programming task that brought back from their office? Personal projects?

2. Or most of them won’t do anything related to programming works at all? instead go somewhere else like shopping? family time? outdoor? and etc?

I think most of them are in category 2. I have some interesting statistic to support this :)

I have a programming blog where traffic source are mainly come from United State. Most of the traffic are about “how to” and “tips” in particular programming language. It shows that on weekend, the site has less traffic than weekdays.

I have observed this for many months and the statistic is pretty consistance.

Are most programmers really enjoy their programming life and having work-life balance? At least, in Malaysia it is not at all because most of my programmer friends always complain about their in-balance life. :).

I worked in an US company before (IBM) and they always care about their employee’s work and life. So I think, United State, they have been very good in this practice! We should learn from them.

What do you do in the weekend? For me, at this stage, I will try to spend most of the time with my family :)
